If you’re looking for a romantic honeymoon in California, I’ve got you covered! Between beaches, wine, and warm weather - you and your new spouse will both find something to love in the Golden State. Just don’t forget your sunblock, the California sun can be tricky. Even if the clouds are out, the UV rays can still burn your skin - trust me, I know!
Known for its near perfect weather, San Diego is a delightful city to visit for any occasion. Looking for a mellow walk along the beach? Coronado Bay boasts one of the most gorgeous beaches you will find in California. Taking a long walk as you hold hands on the boardwalk is sure to spark some feel-good honeymoon vibes. Grab some lunch at one of the many adorable (and delicious) restaurants in the area. I recommend Cafe Coyote in Old Town (make sure you get the hand-made tortillas!) but there are tons to choose from all over the city.
Perhaps you’re animal lovers? The San Diego Zoo is rated the #1 Zoo in the World by TripAdvisor! Not only that, but this zoo will make you feel as if you’re walking through a jungle with its unique exhibits and up-close exotic birds while meandering along the Tiger Trail. The size of this magnificent zoo makes it difficult to see everything in a day, so head there early to check out all the amazing animals inside!
In the mood for inspiring architecture and arguably some of the world’s best wine? Look no further than the famous Napa! Between the Napa Valley Wine Train and Oxbow Public Market, you can’t go wrong in Napa. Discover the sweetest, or driest, wines your palate has yet to taste. Your newly betrothed will thank you!
If you’re yearning to get some peace and quiet, you will find what you’re looking for at Skyline Wilderness Park! Offering a little bit of everything, you can look forward to a native plant garden, campsites, hiking, biking, and equestrian trails. Try to imagine a more perfect night than kissing the love of your life under a clear, starry sky. I dare you.
One of my favorite cities in the country (and where my parents have celebrated two anniversaries) San Francisco has it all! The iconic Golden Gate Bridge is reason alone to visit. Head down to the pier to see the local Sea Lions basking in the sun or take a bike ride through Golden Gate Park and be sure to snag some cute selfies along the way!
History buffs might find themselves drawn to Alcatraz Island, where the first lighthouse and US built fort on the West Coast are located. Embrace life with the wind in your hair and scent of sea salt filling your nose as you embark on the ferry to Alcatraz. I wouldn't call Alcatraz "romantic" but it's definitely worth a visit.

What's more romantic than strolling through the City of Stars after watching La La Land for the fifth time? If you want to see what all the hype is about, take a peep at Los Angeles - the heart of the television and film industry. Home to not only common folks like us, but also some of the most well-known celebrities in the country. Take a stroll down Hollywood Boulevard for a trail of stars full of past and present notable celebrities.
Not as starstruck as everyone else? Fit in some culture at the Greek Theatre or take a tour of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. If you’re hoping to soak in the sun, you and your loved one might consider the Santa Monica pier, where a gentle kiss awaits you at the top of the ferris wheel. Or an adorably goofy selfie, your choice.
Need a breath of fresh air, or just want to go off-grid for a few days? Then, grab your boots and run away to Mt. Shasta! Halfway between Portland, Oregon and San Francisco, this city nestled at the bottom of the glorious Mt. Shasta might be what you need for some one-on-one with your boo. (Gross, did I just say that?)
Mountain trekking, camping in the woods, and biking are just few of the many options available to you at Mt. Shasta. Looking to upgrade your bed from a tent to something a bit more comfortable? Mt. Shasta also happens to have luxury resorts in the area as well. For a bed and breakfast feel, check in to the McLoud Hotel, boasting its original registration desk.
For a bit of nostalgia, feast your eyes on Sacramento! Popular attractions are the California State Railroad Museum and Old Sacramento State Historic Park. Once you get your antique locomotive fix, you and your sweetheart can head down to the riverfront historic district for a bite to eat. Enchanting cobblestone streets await your feet as you walk between Gold Rush-era buildings, soaking in the history.
If you’re feeling a more artsy vibe with your partner, consider visiting the Crocker Art Museum. This museum features international collections with an eye for variety.
And who says you only need to visit one city? A California honeymoon can be the getaway of your dreams. Featuring many more wonderments than what is listed here, this state is truly one to behold. If nothing else, at least you know the wine will be delicious.
